2024/Spring 2025 Newsletter
Hello from Bullseye Outfitting,
As the seasons shift in Northwest Montana, we’re reflecting on another incredible year in the backcountry and gearing up for what’s ahead. From elk bugles echoing through the fall timber to the excitement of spring bear and mountain lion tracks in fresh snow, 2024 has been one for the books — and 2025 looks even better.
Here’s your full seasonal update from the field.
Fall Archery 2024
Archery season was strong this year, with an 80% success rate. We were proud to see some big bull elk harvested, and predator management efforts have clearly paid off. Elk are more responsive and active — a great sign for anyone looking to book a bow hunt in 2025/2026. If you’re coming next season, there’s a real chance of having a bull walk right in front of you. It’s the perfect time to hone your archery skills and be part of a quiet, rewarding hunt in the heart of elk country.
Fall Rifle 2024
Rifle season delivered in a big way. Mule deer hunting was outstanding, with several trophy bucks harvested, and there are still plenty of bulls on the mountain. We’ve included some highlight photos of the bucks and bulls taken this year — proof that the genetics and habitat here in the Cabinets continue to produce.
Reminder: This is a true backcountry, mountain wilderness adventure. Be prepared to hike all day, across uneven terrain, through thick timber and high elevations. The physical demand is real — but so is the reward. With the right gear, mindset, and fitness, it will be one of the best experiences of your life.
Mountain Lion Season – Winter 2024/2025
We had a 100% success rate during this past mountain lion season! Snow conditions cooperated, and our experienced houndsmen and guides tracked and treed beautiful cats.
Note: We currently have TWO openings left for the upcoming lion season. If you’re interested, reach out ASAP — these spots will not last.
Spring Bear Season 2025
Spring bear hunting continues to be one of our most consistent and rewarding seasons. With a mild winter this past year, the wildlife came through in excellent condition — and it showed.
We had a 100% success rate for black bear this spring. All six hunters who stayed and hunted harvested a bear. If you’re looking for a solid chance at success and a great spring adventure in the mountains, don’t miss the 2025 season.

ONE OF MONTANA’S LEADING
HUNTING OUTFITTERS
Trout Creek is one of the most beautiful, peaceful places you’ll ever be. We are surrounded by scenic mountains that are public land and have the reservoir running through the valley. Lots of site seeing without all the people. You can definitely put together an affordable vacation for the family. We have some comfortable cabins for you to stay in and the knowledge of the country.
Many hunters we have had in camp say their families would love it out here so we have decided to offer that option. We are quite excited about that as we would love to share all the incredible things that we get to enjoy by living here. Also, Spring Bear season will be here before we know it. Spring Bear is always enjoyable and is a great time of year to be out hunting. We have a few opening left if you are interested. If you have any questions, please give us a call 406-827-4149.
