Hello
from Bullseye Outfitting. It’s been awhile since we’ve sent
out any information out to you all. To start with, things
are going well here at Bullseye Outfitting. We just finished
up with Spring Bear season and sent a lot of the guys home
with some really nice bears. As always these bears were
taken by spot and stalk , fair chase hunting. A great time
was had by all. We like to keep our number of hunters small
so that everyone gets a good quality hunt.
As far as the winter went, it was very mild. It stopped
snowing at the beginning of March and we’ve had a very mild
Spring so the deer and elk came through strong. Things are
looking really good with our deer and elk populations in the
valley at this time.
It’s looking like we are going to have some really good
archery elk hunting in the Fall. If its anything like last
year it should be a really successful season. I expect to
see and hear more bugling bulls in the mountains this fall
than last year.
The last two years we have had some really bad blizzards the
first week of rifle season. We are hoping that that doesn’t
happen again this year. We have some really big deer here
right now to go along with our rifle elk hunting so we are
expecting good success there.
I would like to talk about the license draw. Last year the
licenses oversold by more than ever, so its important for
those of you thinking of hunting with us to plan ahead.
Preference points will be important to have as they help
your chances. The cost is $50. You can apply for these July,
August and September through the Montana Fish, Wildlife, and
Parks. A person can apply for 1 preference point per year.
The elk combo license is what my archery elk hunters apply
for and my rifle hunters apply for the big game combo
license. The big game combo is the deer and elk together and
the elk combo is just the elk license. The preference point
is good for either license.
We are hoping that when Canada opens up to hunting again
that the number of hunters applying here in Montana will go
down and be more normal. It is very important to be planning
ahead. At this time it looks like our winter show schedule
will be back in order and we will see you at the shows this
winter. We have started to book hunters for the 2022 season,
so if you are thinking about hunting here next year its time
to start putting a hunt together. Give us a call and we can
put one together for you.
By
the way, if you are interested in Mountain Lion hunting, you
must apply for a special license by July 24, 2021. (you can
apply online at online at:
fwp.mt.gov.
)
Good hunting, Ben and Renna
